Camlin Oil Pastels & Scraping Tool

Step 1:

Take a blank A4 size Camlin Drawing Paper and tape it onto a board for support, with a Camlin Oil Pastel box and Scraping Tool by your side.

Step 2:

Grab some bright oil pastels from the wide number of shades available in the Camlin Oil Pastels box and start colouring various patches to create a colourful and vibrant base.

Step 3:

Using the black Camlin Oil Pastel, add a layer of black colour on the base colours, and keep colouring until you cover the whole paper.

Step 4:

It’s now time to use the scraping tool that comes with Camlin Oil Pastels. Pick the pointed side of the scraping tool to create the outline of your portrait.

Step 5:

Once the outline is made, use one side of the scraping tool and begin creating textures by scraping off the black layer and exposing the underlying base colours.

Step 6:

Use different sides and edges of the scraping tool to create various textures and patterns while scraping off the black layer. Continue to scrape off the layer around the outline created in Step 4.

Step 7:

After creating textures outside the outline, choose another side of the scraping tool to create varied textures inside the outline of the portrait.

Step 8:

Voila! Your portrait made with Camlin Oil Pastels using the scraping technique is ready.
