While every day is one that we ought to show our gratitude for our moms, Mother’s Day can be just a little extra special. But rather than going out and just buying her flowers or something off the shelf, It’s always a great idea to give them something unique, something from the heart. To help you out, we have a great DIY collection of ideas that will make super gifts for your Mom. They are simple to make and will show her just how much she means to you. So let’s get started!
1.Hand-lettered mother’s day print
Things you’ll need
- Camlin Brush Pens or Camlin Water Colours
- Paint brushes for water coloursDirections
Directions
- The first step is to get your background ready. This can be done by using either the brush pens or the watercolours. Watercolours can give it a more authentic art-like look but both work.
- Once you’ve selected the colour(s) for the background, paint only the central area of your ‘canvas’
(see image) and wait for the pain to dry completely. - The next step is easy; find a great saying for your mum or just write out a short message straight from the heart. Something like ‘Home is Where MOM is’. Use a contrasting Brush pen to write this over the painted area. If you’re afraid of making a mistake, practice on a rough paper until you’re sure of how you want it to look.
- When it’s all done and dry, you can get your artwork framed and present it to your Mom on her special day.

2. Light up my world mother’s card
Things you’ll need
- Cardboard
- Coloured card paper (2 colours)
- Ribbon
- Yellow Camlin watercolour paint
- Krafty Glue StickCamlin Tora Pens
- Radium Stickers
- StringDirections
Directions
- Draw a large Mason Jar on the coloured card paper (colour of your choose or your mum’s favourite colour).
- Cut out the shape and stick it to the cardboard with the Krafty Glue Stick and then cut out the shape again.
- Cut out another, smaller shape on the other coloured card paper and using the brush pens, write a special message to your mum like – Mom, You light up my life!
- Stick this message piece on the jar cut out.
- Make finger impressions on the jar by dipping them in the yellow paint; make stamp dots on the jar around the message, not too many though.
- Place some radium or glow-in-the-dark stickers in the centre of your finger impressions when they’re fully dry. These will serve as the body of little fireflies.
- With the Tora pens, draw little wings and antennae for each of the little fireflies.
- Tie the ribbon into a little bow that you can stick at the top of the jar (see image).
- Stick the string, in a loop, to the back of the cardboard so that your mum can hand this anywhere she wants. Let it sit under a white light for awhile so the radium can glow in the dark which will make the fireflies come to life.

3. Sleeping door hanger
Things you’ll need
- Card paper
- Camlin Water Colours
- Camlin Brush Pens
- Krafty Glue
- Stickers, rhinestones, or sequins
- Camlin Paint Marker (white)Directions
Directions
- Cut out the card paper in the shape of Hotel Room door hanger. Images are easy to find online.
- Paint it in whatever colour you think your mum will like best.
- Write a message, like what’s in the image, using the paint marker, once the paint has dried completely.
- Next, it’s up to you to decorate it so you can use the Krafty glue to stick the Stickers, rhinestones or sequins all over the hanger; give it a nice colourful look.
