Valentine’s Day is celebrated as the universal day of love and is celebrated on 14th February in memory of St. Valentine of Rome. According to legend, St. Valentine was a catholic priest who was imprisoned for performing wedding ceremonies for soldiers who weren’t allowed to marry. Before his death, he wrote a letter and signed it “Your Valentine” as a farewell.

On the day, people all over the globe show their love for their dear ones, be it their children, parents, partners or friends.

Here, we give you a few ways to help build on the spirit of Valentine’s Day and create a few amazing DIY projects in the process.

Crayon Hearts
If you’re as artsy and crafty as we think you are, then you and/or your kids probably have a lot of broken pieces of crayons laying around. If you don’t, simply chop up Camlin Oil Pastels into small bits and mix the colours together. Now, add these to a heart shaped silicone or metal mould and pop them in the oven at about 150 degrees centigrade for about 10-15minutes. Freeze these overnight and pop them out to have your heart shaped crayons. You can package these and pass them around as cute valentines in school, college or at your workplace.

Interesting Wall Hangings
Another way to show the love is through wall hangings. You’ll need a piece of cardboard, popsicle sticks, old jig-saw puzzle pieces, Camlin Acrylic colours in red, Camlin Krafty glue and a Camlin permanent marker. First, paint the jig-saw pieces red and set them aside to dry. While the pieces are drying, glue the popsicle sticks vertically onto the piece of cardboard. Next, assemble the jigsaw pieces in the shape of a heart, place them over the sticks and glue them down. Use the permanent marker to write a sweet message to your valentine.

Heart Shopping Bag
Whether you want it with you when you go grocery shopping or you want to use it as a fashion accessory, this bag is a great way to show someone you care. You’ll need a plain cloth shopping bag, Camlin Acrylic colours in red, chart paper, scissors and a pencil with a rubber top. Cut a heart out of the chart paper. Tape it to the front of the shopping bag. Now dip the rubber end of the pencil in red paint and dot the outline of the heart. Let it dry and your bag is ready.
