1. What is the best thing about being an artist?
I enjoy the world in my own way and have the freedom to recreate it.

2. When did you decide to come into the art world? Who inspired you?
I don’t know exactly, but from very early on I think was inspired by my school drawing teacher and my surroundings.

3. Tell us about your art education and early career
I got a Masters degree in Fine Art in 1970 from Sukhadia University, Udaipur and later a Phd from there in 1997.

4. You have taught for a very long time. How has your experience been?
Teaching Fine Art at an institute like Rajasthan School of Art, Jaipur was a great experience. However, in the last few years I have felt unable to do justice to my students because many of the staff members were unprofessional, so I decide to leave the job.

5. Was it easy to continue your creative journey as an artist, despite your demanding job in teaching?
For me, teaching art and doing my work alongside was in fact very good because teaching young students was a challenge and I needed to learn a lot myself.

6. Which is your favorite medium?
Acrylic and dry pastels

7. What inspires you?
Nature. Always.
